The Fiji
Fish Marketing Group Limited still leads the way in being Fiji's largest
processor and exporter of fresh chilled fish to mainland USA, Hawaii,
Japan and Europe.

few years have seen significant changes in the infrastructure and processes
at the Fiji Fish Lami operation;

- A new
jetty has enabled more efficient loading /unloading turnaround time
for the increasing vessel movements.
- A new
fuel line installed to cater for the increased traffic.
- Installation
of ice making machines on the vessels resulting in economies of scale
and lower non-productive "down time" and better quality fish.
- Upgrading
of the processing plant to ensure compliance with EEC Standards, and
USA Government HACCP accreditation standards. Fiji Fish was the first
fresh fish factory in Fiji to be HACCP approved (No. FJ001).
- Purchase
of vacuum packing machines enabling processing of fish loins and steaks
for export.
- Construction
of larger freezer storage facilities.
- Improved
processing techniques and transport logistics resulting in more efficient
and effective handling of fresh fish.
